The agenda behind Western “scholarship” on Hinduism

Graydon Chiapetta writes about anti-Hindu activism in American institutions and ends with this insight about the real agenda behind prominent strains of Western scholarship about India today – the effacement of Hinduism – Sanatana Dharma –  as a living 6000 (plus) year tradition from the world. In other words, cultural genocide:

“One scholar, facing the complexity of increasing Harijan, Christian and Muslim sympathy for Hindutva, echoed the true feelings that most Western scholars have always exhibited towards India. Asked how he could analyze such a complex civilization, he replied: “When Hinduism dies, We’ll do a better job.”

Comment:

My first question is – who is “we” in the last line?

Whom/what does this scholar think he represents?

Is he so politically aware that he openly refers to the major foundations that finance university research?

Is he a conspiracy researcher who approves of the agenda of the money-power, which is to subvert religious beliefs that stand in its way?

Or does he believe that he and his fellow sociologists can really do better for a billion people than their own six thousand year old religious heritage?

Frighteningly, I think this latter is the correct answer.

  1. He who controls the past, controls the present. He who controls the present, controls the future. The lever that controls, is the lost science of money and usery.
This control always fills up and never remains vacant. The controller can be malevolent or benevolent. I see things will get significantly worse. The goals of the malevolent controller are pretty well known and carved on the Georgia guide stones.
India has been in their crosshairs for a long time. IG, PM of India, knew this money power and she fought them with a lot of success. She nationalized all the Indian banks and the Reserve Bank of India. After her death the Assuras are back. They love to use two tricks. The Hegelian dialectic and the limited hang out. These two tricks are all around us, but the eyes do not see what the mind does not know. After IG was assasinated the assura started consolidating their gains. They started off by buying all the Indian media. Now in the name of free trade and privatization they are buying all of India. Soon Indians will find themselves slaves in their own land and don’t have a clue how it happened. The new invasion is by a force who control the power of money creation out of nothing and usery.
Immunization is a wonderful scientific invention and has the potential to save millions of lives. It can also sterilize a whole race. The problem is not immunization but what is inside the vial and syringe. Who to trust. I am told i am getting a vaccine for polio but is that really a polio vaccine, or some vaccine mixed with vaccine for sterilization. 20 year later when a whole new generation is sterile, someone will boast sorry there was an error.

  2. Right on “R”.

    Just two minor points:

    1) The actual statement of George Orwell in 1984 from which you accurately constructed that control flow of narratives “He who controls the past, controls the present. He who controls the present, controls the future.” is (for those readers of Lila’s website who may not have read George Orwell’s 1984):

“Who controls the past controls the future: who controls the present
    controls the past,”

That statement occurs in one of the finest and also the most disturbing and darker moments in the novel. Here is that page — just look at the Kafkaesque dialog between Winston and O’Brien:

    Begin quote

An oblong slip of newspaper had appeared between O’Brien’s fingers. For
perhaps five seconds it was within the angle of Winston’s vision. It was
a photograph, and there was no question of its identity. It was THE
photograph. It was another copy of the photograph of Jones, Aaronson, and
Rutherford at the party function in New York, which he had chanced upon
eleven years ago and promptly destroyed. For only an instant it was before
his eyes, then it was out of sight again. But he had seen it,
unquestionably he had seen it! He made a desperate, agonizing effort to
wrench the top half of his body free. It was impossible to move so much as
a centimetre in any direction. For the moment he had even forgotten the
dial. All he wanted was to hold the photograph in his fingers again, or at
    least to see it.

    ‘It exists!’ he cried.

    ‘No,’ said O’Brien.

He stepped across the room. There was a memory hole in the opposite wall.
O’Brien lifted the grating. Unseen, the frail slip of paper was whirling
away on the current of warm air; it was vanishing in a flash of flame.
O’Brien turned away from the wall.

‘Ashes,’ he said. ‘Not even identifiable ashes. Dust. It does not exist.
    It never existed.’

‘But it did exist! It does exist! It exists in memory. I remember it.
    You remember it.’

‘I do not remember it,’ said O’Brien.

Winston’s heart sank. That was doublethink. He had a feeling of deadly
helplessness. If he could have been certain that O’Brien was lying, it
would not have seemed to matter. But it was perfectly possible that O’Brien
had really forgotten the photograph. And if so, then already he would have
forgotten his denial of remembering it, and forgotten the act of
forgetting. How could one be sure that it was simple trickery? Perhaps
that lunatic dislocation in the mind could really happen: that was the
    thought that defeated him.

O’Brien was looking down at him speculatively. More than ever he had the
air of a teacher taking pains with a wayward but promising child.

‘There is a Party slogan dealing with the control of the past,’ he said.
    ‘Repeat it, if you please.’

‘”Who controls the past controls the future: who controls the present
controls the past,”‘ repeated Winston obediently.

‘”Who controls the present controls the past,”‘ said O’Brien, nodding his
head with slow approval. ‘Is it your opinion, Winston, that the past has
    real existence?’

Again the feeling of helplessness descended upon Winston. His eyes flitted
towards the dial. He not only did not know whether ‘yes’ or ‘no’ was the
answer that would save him from pain; he did not even know which answer he
believed to be the true one.

O’Brien smiled faintly. ‘You are no metaphysician, Winston,’ he said.
‘Until this moment you had never considered what is meant by existence. I
will put it more precisely. Does the past exist concretely, in space? Is
there somewhere or other a place, a world of solid objects, where the past
    is still happening?’

    ‘No.’

‘Then where does the past exist, if at all?’

‘In records. It is written down.’

    ‘In records. And—-?’

‘In the mind. In human memories.’

‘In memory. Very well, then. We, the Party, control all records, and we
control all memories. Then we control the past, do we not?’

‘But how can you stop people remembering things?’ cried Winston again
momentarily forgetting the dial. ‘It is involuntary. It is outside oneself.
How can you control memory? You have not controlled mine!’

O’Brien’s manner grew stern again. He laid his hand on the dial.

‘On the contrary,’ he said, ‘YOU have not controlled it. That is what has
brought you here. You are here because you have failed in humility, in
self-discipline. You would not make the act of submission which is the
price of sanity. You preferred to be a lunatic, a minority of one. Only the
disciplined mind can see reality, Winston. You believe that reality is
something objective, external, existing in its own right. You also believe
that the nature of reality is self-evident. When you delude yourself into
thinking that you see something, you assume that everyone else sees the
same thing as you. But I tell you, Winston, that reality is not external.
Reality exists in the human mind, and nowhere else. Not in the individual
mind, which can make mistakes, and in any case soon perishes: only in the
mind of the Party, which is collective and immortal. Whatever the Party
holds to be the truth, is truth. It is impossible to see reality except by
looking through the eyes of the Party. That is the fact that you have got
to relearn, Winston. It needs an act of self-destruction, an effort of the
will. You must humble yourself before you can become sane.’

    2) Please correct me if I am wrong with some official links that I can peruse to verify the correction. I do not believe that the Reserve Bank of India issues money as a national debt like the Federal Reserve Bank of the United States does. While it may be held privately, I do not know that, it operates like the State Bank of Pakistan. The currency issue is controlled by BIS.org which controls the various rates and monetary policy (in the overarching sense) of all its member banks. Last time I checked bis website, it listed 57 member countries whose central banks are controlled by BIS. However, the central banks in the G-7 countries, minus Russia, all have private central banks run as private banking cartels that do issue currency as the national debt on the nation. The developing nations’ central banks do not do that. The national debt in developing nations, which includes India, is almost entirely due to balance of payment deficits in trade, and development loans from international lending agencies. The payback of these loans is made difficult because the interest payments is in the international currency which is the US dollar. Nations can only acquire these foreign currency reserve of dollars by export earnings, and expats sending money home. This reserve is dipped into by the Multinational corporations to repatriate their income earned in local Indian currency back in dollars to report earnings to Wall Street. And that’s how developing nations are principally strangulated in debt —- unlike the developed nations which issue the debt more diabolically with the mere printing of paper money!! The modalities of strangulation are different. Not that it matters when one is being controlled through either strangulation!

That’s my general understanding. For some reason, the actual inner workings of the developing nations’ central banks is kept just as obfuscated as the developed nations…. I am sure these are not state secret however. Just a matter of getting hold of the right texts to gain an accurate understanding.

Lila please weigh in if you have some references to how exactly the Reserve Bank of India operates.

    Thanks.
